Tokyo Day#4

Day #4

After this long (!) night we went to Ueno. A district well known because of its museums, the famous Shinobazu Pond and Bentendo Hall which is located in the Ueno Park.
This day we were totaly broke. No money - no cash machine. We spent our last 100 ¥ for one burger at the nearest Mcdonalds (what was a big mistake, because after that we felt such a thirst, like we never felt before).
We arrived at 10 PM in Incheon, Seoul - on time for our farewell party in Hongdae.

Tokyo Day#3

Day #3

Asakusa is on the north-east outskirts of Tokyo. A wonderful district - completely different from the other ones. The most famous attraction in Asakusa is the Kaminarimon with its giant chōchin (lantern) and the five-storied pagoda. We met there a japanese friend, who showed us hidden spots with awesome cherry blossom sights, which tourists usually do not visit - in Tokyo a rare species anyway. Ginza is known as an upmarket area, with lots of boutiques and restaurants. After visiting the 'Bathing Ape' store, where Kanye West shot his 'stronger' video we walked through Roppongi. An area which is well known for its (quite expensive) night club scene, the Tokyo Tower and of course the Roppongi Hills. Especially in this district you can find a high percantage of foreigners. Probably one of the few areas which might get dangerous, but it does't.
You can find in Roppongi and in Shinjuku members of the Yakuza, one of the most famous and biggest organized crime groups in the world.

Tokyo Day#2

Day # 2
First we visited a shrine in Shinjuku, hidden between two giant office buildings. After that we went to the main Tokyo Station which is in Central Tokyo, to visit the Chiyoda-Ku, the Imperial Palace and its East Garden. We walked along the Uchibori-dori Ave. to Kasumigaseki. After that we went by subway to Harajuku. This district is known for its youth style and fashion. Just after we got out of the subway we were in a crazy land full of extravagance and colour. This area is completely different from Shinjuku and the areas we saw before. We went down the Takeshita-Dori and watched the people passing by. Weird beings - walking down the road to see and to be seen. After all those impressions we ate a crêpe in japanese style with tons of sugar and ice-cream in it. We walked through the Shibuya-ku Yoyogi Park which connects Shinjuku, Harajuku and Shibuya. Impressed by all those illuminated ads and banners in Shibuya we arrived at the most famous crossing in the world. It is reported as the world's busiest. It is located in front of the Shibuya Station. We went up to Starbucks which overlooks the crossing and is one of the busiest in the world. From there you have a nice look over the streets and you can watch reams of people running from A to B - going to work or maybe just shopping.

It was indescribable. We were speechless.

Day #1

Narita Airport - Shinjuku - Shin-okubo
Shinjuku Station is used by an average of 3.52 million people per day. It is one of the busiest train station in the world. There are well over 200 exits. Kit and Sey - all alone - we were lost. Including an underground arcade the station is so enormous, that we couldn't find a way out of it, but after happy 40 minutes we reached the surface again! What a relief.

Walking in Shinjuku between so many oddities gave us the creeps! I've never seen such people like there before. We walked to the Tokyo Metropolitan Governement Office and had a look at the Tokyo Skyline and the Tokyo Tower.
