Ludwig Múzeum - Budapest

Probably the most interesting museum in Budapest related to art and architecture is the Ludwig Muzeúm in the very south of the city centre on the 'Pest' side of the Danube river. It is interesting not only because of its art exhibition, but alo the building itself is amazing. During New Year's Eve the east side of the building was illuminated with various colours. We were lucky and had the chance to see the awesome permanent exhibition - even during the New Year holidays. To really become aware of the architecture you should visit it in the evening or at night, when the light installation underlines the facade.

Erick van Egeraat: ING Building Budapest

One of my favourite Architects: Erick van Egeraat.
I have seen one of his buildingsin Warsaw, Poland: the Netherland Embassy, and mentioned it in my last post. I liked it a lot, especially the fusion of secular building and nature, which caught my eye. During my trip to Budapest I noticed the stunning ING Building in front of the 'Hero's Square', in which he perfectly integrates the building into the environment, as you can see in the photos. As I read Erick van Egeraat has won the international competition to design the Budpest City Hall. His idea combines restoration of the existing 18th century baroque building and new, futuristic wings in order to create a contemporary Main Square. I'm really curious about that one.
